JOB FUNCTIONS
A Trainee Specialist Technician is dedicated to developing the skills and completing the assignments required to achieve a Certificate IV in Information Technology. This is done in alignment with the Training Plan provided by Chisholm Institute, while actively improving both technical and communication capabilities. Trainees work alongside our Specialist Technicians on-site, assisting with Level 1 technical support and help desk services for schools.
Throughout the program, you will deliver local technical and help desk support to schools in collaboration with SolutionOne’s Specialist Technicians. These professionals operate across a diverse range of school environments throughout South East Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, offering you valuable exposure and hands-on experience.

SolutionOne has a well-established presence across the Mornington Peninsula, delivering technical support, consulting services, and hardware solutions to over 1,000 local organisations and more than 40 schools throughout Eastern and Southern Metropolitan Melbourne. Our team provides both on-site and remote IT support. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- Assisting the Specialist Technician in the support of the school network and servers
- Tasks will include but not limited to:
- Support of staff notebooks/laptop computers
- Support of network infrastructure
- Work towards meeting the technical requirements as laid out in the TSSP Specialist Technician Operating Procedures.
- General awareness of Microsoft Server technologies
- Good general knowledge of desktop / laptop computers
- Driver’s licence and own mode of transport essential
- Working with Children Check
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Representation
|
In all interactions and communication with school representatives you must conduct yourself in a manner consistent with SolutionOne’s values, directions, policies and guidelines.

Help Desk Support
|
Provide Level 1 Technical support to staff and student notebooks/laptop computers.
|
New technologies
|
Support and enhance the adoption of digital technologies by Schools. Support the school with the deployment and use of IT projects and initiatives.
|
End user support
|
Support the Specialist Technician in all aspects of technology for end users including the installation, maintenance, configuration, fault diagnosis.
|
Core Infrastructure
|
Support the Specialist Technician in the installation, maintenance, configuration, fault diagnosis and resolution regarding all aspects of Department-owned and School-owned servers, storage, and backup, wired and wireless network infrastructure and internet connectivity.
|
ICT Security and Privacy
|
Support the Specialist Technician to ensure technical devices and software is securely deployed, configured, and maintained.
|
Ad hoc
|
Support the Specialist Technician and work to increase your knowledge on aspects of the role including Incident Management, Documentation, ICT Planning
|
Training
|
Complete all the required paperwork, tasks and assignments to successfully complete the Certificate IV – Information Technology through Chisholm within the 2 year deadline.
